Discover history and explore the tradition.
Historic Hotel Magma opened in 1912.... re-opened March 1st, 2019

One unique place in the heart of Superior, Arizona, went into a complete process of historical restoration for a period of more than five years to bring its beautiful structure and interior to its birth date.

An extremely delicate and complex task with an unlimited level of satisfaction, not only for the developer, Los Cedros Superior LLC., but most importantly, to the magic Town of Superior.

Our highest respect and gratefulness to the Government of the United States of America, the Government of the State of Arizona, Pinal County, and the Town of Superior, for the great support and encouragement to make this dream of many come true.

Our recognition to every and all the workers that participated in the development of this project.

Thanks to all the resident of the Town of Superior and innumerable visitors that have supported us from the very beginning until the now re-opening of Historic Hotel MAGMA.

Welcome to Historic Hotel MAGMA, NOW OPEN..!!!

LOBBY

A Place to Unwind

As you enter through the landscaped courtyard, note the lovely purple plum trees, palm and other plants. Under the arched portico, the main doors open into a beautiful lobby furnished with dark brown leather couches and chairs meant for relaxing. The enormous wooden staircase leads to two branches, the left one goes to 15 rooms on two floors and to the right side, on the second floorthere are 6 additional, dressed like their early days style. The righthand stairs lead to the patio which connects the MacPherson brick side and the Magma concrete section.

tradition in your room

Traversing the lobby, there are public restrooms across from the reception desk. A small cubicle denotes where the bus station once resided. Past the desk, in the east hallway, are the office, laundry, electrical room and one large sleeping suite. To the left are 6 bedrooms, each furnished with a metal framed queen bed, open shelved closet, a replica crown and dental shelf on the wall, chair railing, and a 2 way light/ceiling fan fixture for central or ambient lighting. All the rooms are painted in 3 color schemes, tone-on-tone of blue, cream (beige), and green. The enlarged bathroom is decorated in facsimile black and white tile, a beadboard vanity, mirror and sconces. The only 21st century outlier is the television for the convenience of modern roomers.

The Ladle

The eye-catching main staircase branches into the two sections of the hotel. To the right is a dining room which can seat 40+ people at 9 tables with 3 ornate wood sideboards set for buffets. The large glass windows overlook a slender garden in the rear. Behind is a chef’s dream kitchen displaying modern stainless steel appliances.
Now, The Ladle is open for Breakfast ala Carte. In the next few days, it will be open for dinner with a world class Menu written by Master Chef Robert McGrath.

Down the chandeliered stairway of the MAGMA wing, is the flocked wallpapered Tea Room. This quiet place, with the sleeping rooms above, contains a tiny stage, with 5 low and 5 high-top tables. Note the ornate bar, an antique claimed from the movie set of “John Wick 2;” the copper ceiling manufactured with the original design; and the glass and iron chandeliers.
